During the upcoming week, we will be celebrating the Yellowstone Shortline Trail on Wednesday, June 11 starting with the Yellowstone Shortline Trail Ribbon Cutting at 10:30 AM at the Iris Street trailhead.
This is part of the larger Train Day at the Museum of the Yellowstone 2025 event hosted by the Museum of the Yellowstone.

This is one such day when it encourages us all to come out of our homes to enjoy national and state trails. Whether we are old or young, we come out to enjoy nature. This day which is celebrated on the first Saturday of June makes us aware of the benefits of trails.

As early as possible, Ill walk this morning in the cool air. Then, Ill race off to take care of errands early before the traffic hits.
After that, its time for formatting Book2 in Vellum. Its getting real!
Once Book2 is published, the door opens for cleaning & more hiking.

After my epic hike, I was amazed how my body rebounded. My poor sleep that night, though, left me drowsy.
So, I read a lot.
Last night, my sleep was the envy of rocks. Now Im ready to prep Book-2 for publication. I did some work yesterday, but didnt trust myself.

At the end I pan over Marshall Canyon. Theres an abandoned ski area. At the last, it points towards Hellgate Canyon.

What an adventure!
I hiked into the high country while climbing Mt. Jumbo on the way (it didnt take much).
14-miles (22.5K) & 3,629 ft (1,106M).
The only people I saw were close to the trailhead.
Then, the day waning, as was my endurance, I found a good reason to turn around.

Ich hab mir im recht gnstig ne weitere fr's gekauft. Diesmal gebraucht. Am HT die ersetzen war schon lange mein Plan. Nun habe ich endlich an beiden (Haupt-)Bikes nicht nur die gleiche super leichte mit top Bremsleistung, sondern auch gleiche und die gleiche Gre der . Ich hatte noch UL 203 und 180 mm im Ersatzteilvorrat, also habe ich diese am HT montiert (statt bisher 180 /160 mm). Das ist am HT zwar etwas berdimensioniert, aber jetzt kann ich bei Bedarf einfach auch mal die

I ran headlong into the wall of exhaustion last night from a lack of sleep, & so went to bed early. Now, Im struggling to wake up.

What a way to finish a month, with a hike. It wasnt spectacular, but it was kinda perfect.
Later in the day, I did yoga stretches, which help prevent any stiffness. This morning, Ill walk & therell just be some lingering fatigue.

I went where there are typically crowds, found the seldom used trails, & only saw 5 people in five hours.
The weather was gorgeous. Sunny. 60s (F). Slight breeze. 9.7 miles (15.6K). 1795 feet (547m).
It was beyond perfect, a great way to end the month.

4 Canyon View & Alameda Creek, Sunol Wilderness CA
Canyon View Trail offers picturesque views of the park, leading to some small waterfalls at Alameda Creek Overlook (aka Little Yosemite, but the park doesn't like it being called that).
The return along Camp Ohlone Rd is flat and dusty - I'd have preferred an o&b of Canyon View Trail.

Spring time is the best time for East Bay hiking. At Sunol I hiked this loop, and also the popular Alameda Creek hike. This one was the best of the two.
