For a half-mile, the trail shot straight up the precipitous north flank of Brushy Mountain, all the way up to the wooded crest. By the time I made it to the top I had broken all the old sweating records I had established on this hike.

A Baltimore "Historic" map for the conference, to orient nonresidents. Trail 1 goes from Patterson Park "ova east" straight into downtown, then hooks around to Fort Avenue heading for the national "shrine" of Fort McHenry. A 5-mile hike, one way, though you need to put thought into returning from whence you came (I did it by bus in 2010).

Pink and purple clouds sunset, Mattatuck Trail, Plymouth, Connecticut. October 8, 2019, 6:35 PM.

Some cool pics of the area *now* where this eruption may occur. It's a trip how the entire landscape will change again, once an eruption occurs.

Unlike the Roan Highlands, the open fields throughout the Mount Rogers area did not seem to be natural balds. In places which hadn't been grazed recently, thick scrub covered the landscape. The predominant features of these landscapes were emerald green spring grasses and medium to light gray boulders and rock outcrops,

Sea to Sound ride was so fabulous! They produced a video with those of us who spent time in a power wheelchair for a small exposure to trails from a different vantage point.

I added a QGIS hash tag so it is time for a new introduction.
Mainly for a cool conference 2 weeks from now in .

The event:
Mine: (historic trails threads late, primarily re city art)

has it wrong: "the first year the data was gathered and analyzed was 2008"
In the *70s* I was undergrad on a fire station location study
My open source OS: (since 0.9).
Poll on fashion later (masks are must-have for me!).

For a chipmunk that didn't move after shooting up the tree, it sure was vocal after I moved on. Yeah, sure, scream insults at my back. It sure spewed a lot of inappropriate language not at all becoming a cute woodland creature.

Giddy Edge Path in Matlock Bath, England

This precipitous pathway with its wrought iron handrail was created by the Victorians as a tourist attraction.

Hundreds of tiny yellow flowers in the (not grass) green ground cover. New Britain Reservoir, Wolcott, Connecticut. August 3, 2020, 6:56 PM. All the ground in this pic where trees are not growing is lakebed for most of the year. The lush green ground cover is a leafy plant that only resembles grass when seen from a distance.

Halloween hike on the Mattatuck Trail, Marino Pond through the trees. Plymouth, Connecticut. October 31, 2020, 4:35 PM.

Nice afternoon for a bike stroll.

Ah, the places your feet might take you...

That track is definitely good, but I dont really think it takes me anywhere, or tells me that Im about to embark on a grand adventure like this from SC.

My final twelve miles today were in Shenandoah. The trail inside the park was well-graded and almost completely cleared of overgrowth. I hiked through dignified old forests of stately trees, following the ridgeline for most of the distance. There were a number of good viewpoints.

Inland wetlands. Marsh and inlet stream, New Britain Reservoir, Wolcott, CT. August 31, 2020, 7:28 PM.

Went last evening at on one of my favorite local (yes, the days are getting shorter!). As I entered the last meadow, I was greeted by this beautiful eerie scene a misty blanketing the ground as the sun was showing the last of its light with an orange glow over the horizon. Its almost Halloween!

Lanesfield Historic Site in Edgerton, Kansas

Built in 1869, this one-room rural schoolhouse welcomes visitors to travel back to 1904 school day.

Temperatures dropped considerably last night when the wind kicked up and stayed down today. Rather late on a cool, damp morning, I set out from Frosty Mountain, having smoked my last two cigarettes with breakfast.

I looked up and felt fairly confident that I must be on the right path.
