For me, after so many days writing around other tasks, I have a day of peace for writing, though adversity has made me insanely productive.
My last hike was my longest in months, my legs eager to tackle more next week. Bring it on.

I took the Milwaukee Trail to explore the wild areas along the river across from downtown.
Nostalgia on my part No, sorrow.
While our skyline grows, these areas decay. Theres neglect, restrictive fencing popping up, & expanding homeless encampments.
All thanks to our govt-slashing Republican governor.
5.1 sad miles.

Good day!
Shortly, Ill head east on the Milwaukee Trail for a hike along the river.
Over the next month, Ill extend that to include Hellgate Canyon, Mt. Sentinel, & Pattee Canyon. Then, Ill expand my horizons again.
Later, Ill edit a chapter & reach 67% on Book3. Milestones, I note them all!

Five mile hike in the fresh snow cleaning up trails. Had backpack with electric chainsaw for big items, but mostly it was branches and old, brittle fall downs.

I actually walked in falling snow yesterday, but its warmer this morning.
Another day, another chapter to edit. I also need to ponder this weeks blog post.

These icy sections of are what remained of the in this mountain that hiked earlier this week. The appeared once I got above a certain elevation but was only present below the tree line. Didnt need microspikes as I could rock hop through the sections of ice.

Senter Falls is the main attraction at the Alan & Edgar Rice Nature Preserve in Lyndeborough, NH. Featuring a series of cascades on Cold Brook that cuts through a small but lengthy rocky gorge, this waterfall has plenty to admire.

Snow in the mountains, rain in the valley. This is the norm for this time of year, but it hasnt been for the last several years.
I hope that means a minimal fire season in late summer, but our smoke problems come from elsewhere.
