Sometimes, nature & my imagination dance together on the trail, like looking through a foliage window into the past.
Autumn seems to excel at that. Its my gothic season, and oh how I love to step outside & embrace it.
It calls to me.

I wonder how long I'd have to lie on the trail before turning to stone.
An old tree, the lower part still standing. But it has also been carved out from the inside, probably by ants or other small forest life forms.

At a time when it feels like we have no control, I went on a speed walk yesterday using my trekking poles.
4.2 miles (6.8K).
How speedy 16 minutes/mile.
Its part of focusing on my health, becoming more fit, & losing weight. My lungs are thanking me.

Bin das heute zum 2. Mal gefahren und das 1. Mal mit dem Propain Tyee. Ist doch viel leichter zu fahren als mit dem alten bike. Trotzdem taten meine Hnde ziemlich weh danach.

I had to scramble yesterday to create time to watch the game. In truth, I watched while eating dinner, cleaning the kitchen, & doing laundry.
Its much cooler, signs of autumn everywhere, even in town. Were also having intermittent showers.

September 4, 1983, 42 years + 1 week ago today: The AT bypassed the cliffs which towered over the pond, but there were several great viewpoints atop rock outcrops along that climb, overlooking an immense, L-shaped valley encircled by the lofty, wooded heights of Mount Wolf, Mount Kinsman, and several of their spur ridges.

A walk this chilly morning, then groceries, & then Ill edit.
I finished the novella & am exhausted from the effort & emotional drain, but Im thrilled because it accomplished more than Id hoped for.
The novella also killed my appetite. Ive barely eaten.

Doing double duty, editing a chapter each day while adding words to the novella (2,311 yesterday), is taking a toll.
The results, thoughI couldnt have hoped for more.
The 9-hr days are nearly over. Our smoke is gone. Autumn is everywhere. Im content.

Im exhausted, but too driven to stop. I edited a short chapter yesterday, but also added 3,139 words to the novella.

Another productive day, yesterday on the writing front. I added 2,175 words to the novella & edited a chapter.
Im choosing my shortest chapters to aid the drafting, &, yes, all this means putting in long hours.

What a day yesterday!
Discovered that Id lost 4 lbs. I then walked all the faster with my trekking poles in the cooler weather.
Caught fire on the backstory novella & added 2,585 words. My fingers were flying.
Still managed to edit a Book4 chapter.
